Sales and Marketing are similar but are not the same.

I learned early on in my business career that Sales and Marketing are similar but are not the same.

I would argue that the hard sell rarely works anymore, if at all.

Most people’s radar is set on high for the hard sell and some people may actually run in the opposite direction.

If you want to persuade or influence people you have to lead with a story.

Like in the image above, most people would drive by the guy on the left.

But the guy on the right it’s much more relatable.

We all have moms and many of us have tried to get home to at Christmas.

It’s a narrative that most people have experienced.

It tugs on our emotions and at the very least makes us consider helping him get home to his family.

It pulls our heart strings and draws us into the story and sometimes we become a part of that story.
